India’s junior men’s hockey team suffered a 1-5 defeat to defending champions Germany in the FIH Junior World Cup semifinal in Tamil Nadu.
Germany dominated early, scoring through Lukas Kossel (14′, 30′), Titus Wex (15′), Jonas von Gersum (40′) and Ben Hasbach (49′). India struggled to create chances despite improved play in the second quarter. Anmol Ekka (51′) netted India’s lone goal from a smart penalty-corner move. Indian goalkeeper Princedeep Singh made several key saves, but Germany’s clinical finishing sealed a comprehensive win.
India will now take on Argentina in the 3rd/4th place playoff on Wednesday.
