Zimbabwe Qualify for Super 8s; Australia Eliminated
Former champions Australia national cricket team were knocked out after Zimbabwe national cricket team secured Super 8 qualification when their Group B clash against Ireland national cricket team at the Pallekele International Stadium was abandoned without a toss.
The washout gave both sides one point, lifting Zimbabwe to five—beyond Australia’s maximum possible four. Ireland were also eliminated. Led by Sikandar Raza, Zimbabwe earlier beat Oman and stunned Australia.
In the Super 8s, they face defending champions India national cricket team, South Africa national cricket team and West Indies cricket team in a challenging group.
