Novak Djokovic has dropped out of the ATP top 10 for the first time in more than two decades after his shock first-round defeat at the US Open 2026. The latest rankings released on Monday saw the Serbian slip seven places from fifth to 12th after losing to Mariano Navone in New York.
The development also marks the first time since October 2002 that none of the Big Three—Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer—feature in the ATP top 10. Federer retired in 2022, while Nadal ended his career in 2024.
Djokovic, 39, is still chasing a record 25th Grand Slam title, but his US Open campaign ended amid physical struggles. He vomited during his match against Navone and later revealed that he had been dealing with vomiting, cramps and pain throughout the season.
Federer first entered the top 10 in 2002, while Nadal broke into the elite group in 2005. Djokovic entered the top 10 in 2007 and has spent a record 428 weeks as World No. 1.
