Openers Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma starred as India posted a record 221/2 and defeated Sri Lanka by 30 runs in the fourth women’s T20I at Greenfield Stadium.
The duo stitched India’s highest-ever T20I opening stand of 162, with Smriti scoring 80 and Shafali 79. Richa Ghosh’s unbeaten 40 off 16 balls provided a blistering finish. In reply, Sri Lanka fought hard through Chamari Athapaththu’s 52 but fell short at 191/6. Vaishnavi Sharma’s 2/24 proved crucial as India extended their unbeaten run.
