Devdutt Padikkal’s 167 Puts India in Total Command Against Sri Lanka in 1st Test

India 460/9 Against Sri Lanka as Padikkal Hits 167 in 1st Test

India strengthened their grip on the first Test against Sri Lanka, reaching 460/9 at stumps on a rain-shortened second day in Galle.

Devdutt Padikkal’s magnificent 167 provided the foundation for India’s imposing total, while KL Rahul contributed 82 and Dhruv Jurel made a brisk 51. Only 43 overs were possible after rain washed out the opening sessions, but India still added 172 runs before the close. Sri Lanka’s Prabath Jayasuriya was the pick of the bowlers with 4/109, while debutant Keshara Nuwantha claimed three wickets. Jurel and Manav Suthar helped India cross 400 before Jurel fell to a spectacular one-handed catch by Dhananjaya de Silva.

Kuldeep Yadav and Prasidh Krishna remained unbeaten at stumps, leaving India in a strong position to push for victory.
