India produced another dominant chase at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, defeating Afghanistan by seven wickets in the second T20I on Tuesday to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
Chasing 160, India reached 163/3 in just 14.5 overs, with Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma providing a blazing start. Samson smashed 57 off 22 balls, hitting seven fours and four sixes, while Abhishek scored 39 from 19 deliveries with two fours and four sixes. The pair added 93 runs for the opening wicket.
Afghanistan captain Rashid Khan dismissed both openers and later claimed Shreyas Iyer’s wicket to finish with 3-36. However, Ishan Kishan remained unbeaten on 38 and Tilak Varma helped India complete the chase comfortably.
Earlier, Afghanistan posted 159/8 after being put under pressure early. Ibrahim Zadran top-scored with 37, while Rashid Khan made 28. Nitish Kumar Reddy was India’s leading bowler with 3-18, while Arshdeep Singh claimed 2-35. India will face Afghanistan in the third and final T20I on Thursday.
