Australia all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has announced his retirement from international cricket, ending a career that spanned more than a decade across all three formats.
The 38-year-old represented Australia in 286 matches, scoring 7,226 runs and taking 136 wickets. Nicknamed ‘The Big Show’, Maxwell was part of Australia’s 2015 and 2023 ODI World Cup-winning teams and its 2021 T20 World Cup triumph.
Since making his ODI debut against Afghanistan in 2012, Maxwell became one of the most explosive white-ball batters, renowned for his unconventional stroke-play and match-changing power. He shares the record for most T20I centuries, with five, alongside India’s Rohit Sharma. His unforgettable 201 not out off 128 balls against Afghanistan at the 2023 ODI World Cup remains a career highlight.
Australia were 91/7 while chasing 292 before Maxwell inspired a three-wicket win. Maxwell had retired from ODIs after the 2025 Champions Trophy. His final T20I came against Oman in February 2026, while his last Test appearance was in 2017.
