Edinburgh Castle Rockers made history by becoming the first-ever ETPL champions after defeating Belfast Wolves by seven wickets in a thrilling final at Malahide. Andries Gous starred with an unbeaten 90 as Edinburgh chased down 151 with eight balls to spare.
Belfast, sent in to bat, lost Paul Stirling for eight early, but Tim Tector produced a superb 84 from 62 balls, hitting nine fours and two sixes. Devon Conway added 29 as the Wolves recovered before wickets from JJ Smuts, Mark Watt and Trent Boult restricted their progress.
Belfast finished on 150/5, with Harry Manenti unbeaten on 16. Edinburgh’s chase began positively through Ross Adair, who scored 23 from 14 balls, while Smuts added 15. After both fell, Gous took control of the innings. The opener struck eight fours and four sixes in his unbeaten 90 from 61 deliveries.
Brandon McMullen contributed 17 before falling to Gavin Hoey, but Gous and captain Mitchell Santner completed the chase. Edinburgh reached 151/3 in 18.4 overs to lift the inaugural ETPL trophy.
