Ajinkya Rahane Retires from International Cricket After Glorious 20-Year Journey

India’s veteran batter Ajinkya Rahane has announced his retirement from international cricket, ending a distinguished career spanning two decades.

The 38-year-old represented India in 85 Tests, 90 ODIs and 20 T20Is, scoring over 5,000 Test runs with 12 centuries. Rahane’s defining moment came during India’s historic 2020-21 Test series triumph in Australia, where he captained a depleted side to a memorable 2-1 victory after Virat Kohli returned home on paternity leave. Renowned for his calm leadership and exceptional performances in overseas conditions,

Rahane last played for India in 2023. In his farewell message, he said the timing felt right to retire and expressed his desire to contribute to the development of the next generation of cricketers.
