Joe Root Returns as England Test Captain, Stephen Fleming Appointed Head Coach

England have ushered in a new era by reappointing Joe Root as Test captain, while former New Zealand skipper Stephen Fleming has been named the team’s new head coach.

The appointments follow Ben Stokes’ retirement from international cricket and Brendon McCullum’s dismissal as Test coach after England’s recent struggles. Root, England’s most successful Test captain with 27 wins in 65 matches, will lead the side in the upcoming three-Test series against Pakistan. Marcus Trescothick will serve as interim coach before Fleming takes charge later this year. Root called Fleming an exceptional leader, while the former New Zealand captain expressed excitement about working with the prolific batter.

The ECB hopes the new leadership can build a world-class team after the end of the Bazball era.
