New Zealand have suffered a major setback ahead of the fourth T20I against India, with fast bowler Lockie Ferguson ruled out of the remainder of the ongoing T20I series due to a calf injury. Matt Fisher has been named as his replacement.
According to New Zealand Cricket, Ferguson experienced pain in his right calf during the second T20I at Hagley Oval. Scans confirmed a low-grade tear, and he is expected to need around another week to recover.
Meanwhile, fast bowler Matt Henry has also sustained a low-grade tear in his right quadricep. He is expected to require one to two weeks of recovery but remains on track for the upcoming ODI series.
New Zealand head coach Rob Walter expressed disappointment over the injuries, saying both players would be missed by the team.
India have already secured an unassailable 3-0 lead in the series. The fourth T20I will be played at Eden Park in Auckland on Friday.
