Spin twins Maheesh Theekshana and Wanindu Hasaranga starred as Sri Lanka defeated Ireland by 20 runs in a Group B clash of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 in Colombo.
After slipping to 87/4, Sri Lanka recovered through Kusal Mendis’ unbeaten 56 and a blazing 44 off 19 balls from Kamindu Mendis to post 163/6. Ireland were well placed at 105/2, but quick wickets triggered a collapse.
Theekshana returned figures of 3-23, while Hasaranga claimed 3-25 despite hamstring discomfort, as Ireland were bowled out for 143 in 19.5 overs.
