Spin-bowling allrounder Sophie Molineux has been appointed captain of the Australian women’s cricket team across all three formats, succeeding the retiring Alyssa Healy.
The 28-year-old will lead the T20 side against India next month before taking charge of the ODI and Test teams during Australia’s Caribbean tour in March. Molineux, who captains Victoria and the Melbourne Renegades, called the role a great honour following Healy’s impactful tenure.
Healy, 35, will retire in March after replacing Meg Lanning as captain in 2023. Tahlia McGrath and Ashleigh Gardner continue as vice-captains.
