World No. 2 Jannik Sinner continued his dominant Australian Open run, defeating local favourite Ben Shelton 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 to reach the semifinals at Rod Laver Arena.
The two-time defending champion extended his Melbourne Park winning streak to 19 matches and improved his head-to-head record against Shelton to 9-1. Despite brief physical concerns late in the match, Sinner controlled baseline exchanges and neutralised Shelton’s serve.
The Italian, a four-time Grand Slam champion, now faces Novak Djokovic in a blockbuster semifinal, having beaten the Serbian in their last three Grand Slam meetings.
