Meghalaya’s Akash Kumar Choudhary created history in the Ranji Trophy Plate Group match against Arunachal Pradesh in Surat by smashing the fastest fifty in first-class cricket — off just 11 balls — and becoming only the third player to hit six sixes in an over.
The 25-year-old, batting at No. 8, launched eight consecutive sixes, surpassing Wayne White’s 12-ball fifty record. Left-arm spinner Limar Dabi was the bowler on the receiving end of the six-sixes over.
Akash joined legends Sir Garfield Sobers and Ravi Shastri in achieving the rare feat, marking a historic day for Meghalaya cricket.
