Rain Washes Out 1st T20I Between India and Australia in Canberra

Suryakumar Yadav Confident of Run Return After Lean Patch

Persistent rain forced the first T20I between India and Australia in Canberra to be abandoned on Wednesday.

India were cruising at 97/1 in 9.4 overs when play was halted for the second time, leaving captain Suryakumar Yadav unbeaten on 39 and Shubman Gill on 37. Earlier, Abhishek Sharma gave India a brisk start, smashing four boundaries in a 19-run cameo before falling to Nathan Ellis. After a brief rain delay, Yadav and Gill accelerated the scoring, but the weather returned to end hopes of a result.

The teams will now face off in the second T20I at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Friday.
