Yashasvi Jaiswal Replaces Injured Virat Kohli for Afghanistan ODI Series

India have named Yashasvi Jaiswal as the replacement for Virat Kohli in the upcoming three-match ODI series against Afghanistan after the veteran batter suffered a hamstring injury during the IPL 2026 final.

Kohli aggravated his right hamstring while scoring an unbeaten 75 for Royal Challengers Bengaluru and has been ruled out of the series beginning June 13 in Dharamsala. Chief selector Ajit Agarkar expressed optimism that Kohli could return for the England ODIs in July.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya are expected to be available subject to fitness clearance. Jaiswal last played an ODI in December 2025, scoring an unbeaten century against South Africa.
