UP Warriorz have appointed former Australia captain Meg Lanning as their new skipper ahead of the Women’s Premier League 2026 season. Lanning replaces Deepti Sharma, who led the side last year after Alyssa Healy’s injury.
Signed for INR 1.9 crore at the mega auction, Lanning joins from Delhi Capitals, whom she guided to three straight WPL finals.
One of the game’s most successful leaders, she has won multiple World Cups with Australia and scored 952 WPL runs. Coach Abhishek Nayar praised her leadership qualities, while Lanning called the role an honour.
