Taylor Fritz Wins DC Open, Beats Rising Star Rafael Jodar for First ATP 500 Title
Taylor Fritz ended his long wait for an ATP 500 title by defeating Spain’s Rafael Jodar 7-6(2), 6-4 to win the DC Open in Washington.
The American claimed his 11th ATP Tour title and his first above ATP 250 level since 2022 after overcoming the 19-year-old in a high-quality final. Fritz dominated the first-set tie-break before breaking early in the second set and held firm to seal victory despite facing late pressure.
The triumph lifts Fritz to No. 8 in the ATP Live Rankings ahead of the Montreal Masters. Jodar, meanwhile, continued his breakthrough season, reaching his first ATP 500 final and breaking into the ATP Top 20 for the first time.
