Former India T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav has warmly welcomed Shreyas Iyer as India’s new T20I captain, describing the appointment as a proud moment for Mumbai cricket.
Speaking during a T20 Mumbai League match, Suryakumar said he was “very, very, very happy” for his long-time teammate and highlighted that three successive Mumbai captains have now led India’s T20 side. The pair shared a hug before the game, showcasing their strong bond built through years of representing Mumbai and India together. Chief selector Ajit Agarkar admitted replacing Suryakumar was a difficult decision despite his successful T20 World Cup-winning tenure.
Suryakumar also wished the Indian team success through a supportive social media message.
