Belgium edged India 1-0 in a captivating final to lift the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup 2025 in Ipoh, Malaysia, on Sunday.

It marked Belgium’s maiden Azlan Shah title in just their second appearance at the prestigious invitational tournament, having earlier beaten India 3-2 in the league stage—the hosts’ only defeat of the campaign.

India, fresh from a 14-3 win over Canada, earned three penalty corners but failed to convert despite strong PC form from Jugraj Singh, Amit Rohidas and Sanjay throughout the event. Young Indian midfielders impressed in intense battles, keeping the margin narrow, but Belgium’s disciplined defence held firm to run down the clock and seal the title.
