India’s Sujeet clinched the country’s first gold medal at the 2025 Under-23 Senior World Wrestling Championship in Novi Sad, Serbia, winning the 65kg freestyle title.
Sujeet dominated the tournament, defeating opponents from Moldova (12-2), Poland (11-0), and Japan (3-2) before overpowering Uzbekistan’s wrestler by technical superiority (10-0) in the final. His composed and skillful performance capped India’s successful campaign, with the women’s team earlier securing 5 bronze and 2 silver medals along with the team championship title.
Sujeet’s gold marked a proud finish for India on the final day of the championship.
