Sri Lanka produced a commanding all-round performance to defeat Bangladesh by 63 runs and win the men’s cricket bronze medal at the Asian Games 2026.
After being reduced to 21/4, Sri Lanka recovered strongly, with Tharindu Ratnayake smashing 65 off 32 balls, including seven fours and five sixes. Sahan Arachchige added a composed 33 off 37 balls as Sri Lanka posted 165/9.
Bangladesh’s chase collapsed early. Nuwan Thushara struck in the opening over and Bangladesh slipped to 18/4 by the fourth over. Ratnayake, Thushara, Vijayakanth Viyaskanth and Wanuja Sahan continued to take wickets as Bangladesh were bowled out for 102 in 17.3 overs.
Thushara, Viyaskanth and Sahan claimed two wickets each, while Ratnayake’s explosive batting and crucial breakthrough made him a key contributor.
The bronze medal takes Sri Lanka’s Asian Games tally to three, following men’s javelin gold and women’s cricket silver.
