India captain Shubman Gill has suffered a finger injury during training and will miss the opening day of the three-day warm-up match against Sri Lanka XI in Colombo.
The game began on August 7 at the Nondescripts Cricket Club Ground, with KL Rahul leading India in Gill’s absence. The BCCI confirmed that Gill sustained an impact injury to his right ring finger during Thursday’s practice session and has been rested as a precaution.
He will remain under observation by the BCCI medical team. India are scheduled to play a two-Test series against Sri Lanka, with the first Test beginning on August 15 in Galle, followed by the second in Colombo from August 23.
