Aryna Sabalenka Storms Into Canadian Open Round Of 16 With Straight-Sets Win

World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka advanced to the Canadian Open round of 16 after defeating Shuai Zhang 6-3, 6-4. The victory took Sabalenka to 25-1 on hard courts this season, making her the fastest player to reach 25 such wins since Serena Williams in 2016.

She will next face No. 16 seed Ekaterina Alexandrova. Two-time champion Jessica Pegula also progressed with a 6-4, 6-0 win over Kamilla Rakhimova.

Amanda Anisimova overcame Nikola Bartunkova 3-6, 6-0, 6-4 after receiving a second-round walkover. Meanwhile, Alexandra Eala and Venus Williams exited the doubles event after losing to Liudmila Samsonova and Miyu Kato.
