India captain Shreyas Iyer admitted that poor bowling execution cost his team the fourth T20I against West Indies, but backed the side’s aggressive batting approach despite a 24-run defeat in Hyderabad on Wednesday.
West Indies posted 247/3, powered by Shai Hope’s unbeaten 102 off 50 balls and Sherfane Rutherford’s 49 not out off 26 deliveries. Keemo Paul then claimed five wickets as India were restricted to 223, levelling the five-match series 2-2. Iyer said India’s bowlers failed to execute their line and lengths, making the challenging chase even harder.
He also credited West Indies for using the conditions and field placements effectively, particularly during the middle overs when the pitch offered uneven bounce.
The India skipper dismissed suggestions that Abhishek Sharma’s limited time on strike affected his start, noting that India were still scoring at a healthy rate. Despite the loss, Iyer insisted India would maintain their attacking approach, pointing to their 223-run effort. He expects an exciting series decider in Bengaluru.
