Shai Hope Century Powers West Indies to Record Chase Against India

West Indies defeated India by six wickets in the second T20I at Ranchi on Friday, completing the second-highest successful run chase in men’s T20I history.

Chasing India’s imposing 250-run target, the visitors reached 252/4 to secure victory despite Mayank Yadav’s three-wicket burst, which reduced them to 44/3 in the Powerplay. Hope and Rutherford then launched a stunning counterattack, sharing a 120-run partnership for the fourth wicket.

Hope scored 104 off 45 balls, registering the fastest T20I century by a West Indian against India. Rutherford’s 84 included seven fours and seven sixes, with both batters reaching their half-centuries off 24 deliveries.

Earlier, India posted 249/5, powered by Sanju Samson’s 82 off 41 balls, Shreyas Iyer’s 40 off 18 and Tilak Varma’s unbeaten 44 off 18. Samson reached his fifty in just 21 balls, while Roston Chase claimed three wickets.
