India Test Squad: Saransh Jain’s Long Wait Ends with Maiden Call-Up for Sri Lanka Series

Saransh Jain’s maiden call-up to India’s Test squad for the upcoming Sri Lanka series is the reward for years of consistent performances in domestic cricket.

The 33-year-old Madhya Pradesh all-rounder has impressed with both bat and ball, scoring 2,223 runs and taking 188 wickets in 54 first-class matches. His outstanding 2025-26 season, in which he amassed 518 runs and claimed 30 wickets, strengthened his case for national selection. Former coaches and selectors have praised Jain’s work ethic, accuracy and ability to adapt to different conditions.

With Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav likely to lead India’s spin attack, Jain will compete with Manav Suthar for a place in the playing XI for the opening Test in Galle.
