Nepal have appointed legspinner Sandeep Lamichhane as their new ODI captain, replacing Rohit Paudel ahead of the ACC Men’s Premier Cup in Malaysia from August 30 to September 12. It marks Lamichhane’s second stint as Nepal’s ODI captain after his first ended in 2022.
Lamichhane has led Nepal in 14 ODIs and remains a key part of their bowling attack, taking 154 wickets in 77 matches.
Nepal are currently struggling in the 50-over format after four consecutive defeats in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2, leaving them seventh among eight teams. Dipendra Singh Airee remains Nepal’s T20I captain.
