World No.1 Aryna Sabalenka ended teenager Iva Jovic’s impressive run with a commanding 6-3, 6-0 victory to reach her fourth consecutive Australian Open semifinal.
Sabalenka, the only former champion left in the women’s draw, struck 31 winners and dominated Jovic’s second serve throughout the quarterfinal. The 18-year-old American became the youngest player since Venus Williams in 1998 to reach the last eight without dropping a set.
Sabalenka, who is yet to lose a set in the tournament, will next face either Coco Gauff or Elina Svitolina as she eyes another Melbourne title.
