Rose Davies Completes Historic Distance Double, Thea LaFond Wins Triple Jump Gold at CWG 2026

Australia’s Rose Davies created Commonwealth Games history by winning the women’s 5,000m title after already claiming the 10,000m gold in Glasgow.

Davies outpaced compatriot Jessica Hull over the final lap to become the first woman to complete the 5,000m-10,000m double at the Games. Dominica’s Olympic champion Thea LaFond also celebrated a memorable moment, securing her first Commonwealth Games gold in the women’s triple jump after previously winning bronze and silver. Elsewhere, Bahamas’ Devynne Charlton claimed the women’s 100m hurdles title, while Nigeria’s Chukwuebuka Enekwechi won men’s shot put gold.

England defeated Australia to win the men’s team pursuit cycling gold, while Australia triumphed in the women’s event on another action-packed day in Glasgow.
