Playing her first tournament since returning from a foot injury, the two-time Olympic medallist showed flashes of form but struggled to sustain momentum. She let slip an 11-6 lead in the second game as Wang staged a strong comeback.

Despite the loss, Sindhu’s semifinal finish marked an encouraging return ahead of the season.
