PSG Retain UEFA Super Cup After Beating Aston Villa 2-1

Paris Saint-Germain defeated Aston Villa 2-1 in Austria to retain the UEFA Super Cup and secure the second title in their history. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia opened the scoring after 20 minutes with a trademark strike following a pass from Désiré Doué.

Aston Villa responded before half-time through 17-year-old Brian Madjo, who became the youngest-ever Super Cup scorer. Villa started the second half strongly, with John McGinn testing PSG goalkeeper Matvei Safonov. However, PSG regained the lead in the 61st minute when Doué converted a precise through ball from substitute Ousmane Dembélé.

Despite Villa’s pressure, PSG held on to claim another trophy and become only the third club, after AC Milan and Real Madrid, to win the UEFA Super Cup twice in successive years.
