Pakistan have removed Salman Ali Agha as their T20I captain, with Sahibzada Farhan appointed to lead the side in the upcoming three-match series against Sri Lanka, beginning Friday in Rawalpindi. Salman has also been dropped from the T20I squad but retained in Pakistan’s ODI team for the upcoming tri-series involving Sri Lanka and England.
Pakistan endured a disappointing 2026, failing to reach the T20 World Cup semifinals after losing the Asia Cup final to India. Farhan recently led Pakistan to a silver medal at the Asian Games, where they again lost to India.
Naseem Shah returns to the T20I squad after missing the team’s last assignment, while Razaullah has received maiden white-ball call-ups following his impressive Test performance against England. Several Asian Games performers, including Abdul Samad, Maaz Sadaqat, Arafat Minhas and Sufiyan Moqim, have also been rewarded.
Former captain Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi have been left out of the T20I squad. Shaun Tait also returns as Pakistan’s bowling coach.
