Lovlina Borgohain Creates History, Wins Commonwealth Games Silver in Glasgow

Olympic bronze medallist Lovlina Borgohain scripted history by winning the silver medal in the women’s 75kg boxing event at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow.

With the achievement, Lovlina became only the third Indian boxer after Mary Kom and Vijender Singh to win medals at every major international tournament. The Assamese boxer lost 4-1 by split decision to Australia’s Emma-Sue Greentree in a closely fought final, earning her maiden Commonwealth Games medal after missing out in her previous appearances.

Lovlina’s glittering medal collection now includes an Olympic bronze, World Championships gold and bronzes, an Asian Games silver, and a Commonwealth Games silver, cementing her place among India’s greatest-ever women boxers.
