Gulveer Singh Creates History, Wins Second Athletics Medal at Commonwealth Games 2026

India’s Gulveer Singh created history by winning the bronze medal in the men’s 5000m at the Commonwealth Games 2026, becoming the first Indian to claim two track and field medals in a single edition of the Games.

The 28-year-old clocked 13:24.95 to finish behind Kenya’s Mathew Kipchumba Kipsang (13:23.61) and Australia’s Ky Robinson (13:24.70). Gulveer produced a brilliant finishing sprint, moving from fifth place on the final lap to secure bronze. Earlier in Glasgow, he had won silver in the men’s 10,000m, making this a landmark campaign for Indian athletics.

The Army athlete from Uttar Pradesh continues his remarkable rise after multiple medals at the Asian Games and Asian Athletics Championships.
