Mitchell Santner to Lead New Zealand in T20I Series Against South Africa

Mitchell Santner will captain New Zealand in the upcoming five-match T20I series against South Africa after the side finished runners-up in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.

Selectors have named an expanded squad to manage workloads, with several regular players rested following the global tournament. Domestic performers Katene Clarke, Nick Kelly and Jayden Lennox have earned call-ups and could make their T20I debuts. Veteran wicketkeeper-batter Tom Latham also returns to the T20 setup and will captain the team in the final two matches.

The series begins at Bay Oval in Tauranga and will feature double-header match days alongside the women’s teams.
