Najmul Hossain Shanto Century Guides Bangladesh to 301/4 vs Pakistan in First Test
Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto smashed a brilliant 101 as Bangladesh recovered from early setbacks to reach 301/4 on day one of the first Test against Pakistan in Dhaka.
Bangladesh slipped to 31/2 before Shanto stitched a record 170-run third-wicket stand with Mominul Haque, who narrowly missed a century with 91. Shanto’s ninth Test hundred came off just 129 balls, highlighting his rich form.
After their dismissals, Mushfiqur Rahim (48*) and Litton Das (8*) ensured Bangladesh ended the day strongly.
Pakistan’s bowlers toiled in hot and humid conditions, finding little assistance from the pitch. They also conceded 32 extras.
