Maya Joint Stuns Serena Williams to End Wimbledon Comeback Dream

Australian youngster Maya Joint produced the biggest win of her career by defeating seven-time Wimbledon champion Serena Williams 6-3, 6-7(6), 6-3 on Centre Court.

The 20-year-old, who had never previously won a Wimbledon singles match, overcame Serena’s spirited comeback to end the American legend’s return to Grand Slam singles. Joint fired 10 aces and broke Serena’s serve five times to seal a memorable victory. The 44-year-old Williams, making a remarkable comeback, became the second-oldest woman to compete in Wimbledon singles during the Open Era.

Joint will next face Alexandra Eala as her dream run continues, while Serena described her Wimbledon return as an unforgettable experience.
