Kandy Royals Announce Sandhya Ajjarapu As New Franchise Owner Ahead Of LPL 2026

Kandy Royals today announced that the franchise will come under the ownership of Sandhya Ajjarapu, a U.S.-based investor and entrepreneur with interests across healthcare, biotech, biofuels, information technology, pharmaceuticals, sports and media.

The new ownership marks an important step for Kandy Royals as the franchise prepares for the upcoming Lanka Premier League Sixth Edition. Ajjarapu is expected to bring long-term capital, public-market exposure, business leadership and a commitment to using sport as a platform for community impact. Based in Florida, Ajjarapu brings more than a decade of investment experience across publicly listed and private companies. Her profile includes equity positions in companies listed on U.S. exchanges, along with officer and director roles in private Florida- incorporated entities. She also supports charitable causes in the United States and India, including community health and education initiatives.

Welcoming the new ownership, Lanka Premier League Director, Samantha Dodanwela said, “Sri Lanka Cricket welcomes Sandhya Ajjarapu as the ownership representative of Kandy Royals for Lanka Premier League Sixth Edition. Kandy is an important cricketing region with a strong fan base, and we are pleased to see internationally connected investors showing confidence in the league. This further supports our efforts to strengthen the LPL as a competitive, sustainable and globally relevant T20 platform.”

IPG Global Founder and Chairman, Anil Mohan said: “The Lanka Premier League continues to attract investors who recognise the commercial and community value of franchise cricket. Sandhya Ajjarapu brings strong investment experience, business discipline and a long-term outlook, which are valuable for the continued development of Kandy Royals and the wider LPL ecosystem.”
