Sports Commune Takes Over Jaffna Kings Ahead Of Lanka Premier League Season 6

Jaffna Kings today announced that the franchise will come under the ownership of Sports Commune, led by Indian sports entrepreneurs Manjot Kalra and Mayank Goel, ahead of Lanka Premier League Season 6.

The new ownership brings together cricketing experience, entrepreneurship, youth development, digital media and grassroots sports engagement. Through Sports Commune, the owners aim to strengthen Jaffna Kings as a competitive cricket franchise while building a wider sports platform that connects players, fans, young athletes and commercial partners across South Asia.

The Jaffna Kings have also pre-signed Sri Lanka batter Bhanuka Rajapaksa and all-rounder Dunith Wellalage, giving the franchise a strong local foundation as it prepares for the upcoming season.

Manjot Kalra, Co-Founder of Sports Commune, is a former professional cricketer, digital creator and podcast host based in Delhi. Through Second Innings with Manjot Kalra, he engages cricketers, athletes and sports personalities, bringing sporting stories and insights to a growing digital audience. Mayank Goel, also Co-Founder of Sports Commune, is an entrepreneur with ventures in digital security, insurance and sports development.

Welcoming the new ownership, Lanka Premier League Director Samantha Dodanwela said, “Sri Lanka Cricket welcomes Sports Commune as the new ownership group of Jaffna Kings for Lanka Premier League Season 6. Their commitment to cricket, youth engagement and sports development adds further strength to the league.”

IPG Global Founder and Chairman Anil Mohan said, “Sports Commune brings cricketing knowledge, business experience and digital engagement to Jaffna Kings. We look forward to supporting the franchise as part of a season focused on strong competition, fan engagement and commercial opportunity.”
