Abhishek Sharma, Rinku Singh Star as India Thrash New Zealand in T20I Opener

India produced a dominant all-round performance to thrash New Zealand by 48 runs in the opening T20I at Nagpur and take a 1-0 lead in the five-match series.

Abhishek Sharma’s blistering 84 off 35 balls and Rinku Singh’s unbeaten 44 powered India to a massive 238/7, their highest T20I total against New Zealand.

Chasing 239, New Zealand were rocked early but Glenn Phillips’ fluent 78 and Mark Chapman’s 39 briefly revived hopes. Varun Chakaravarthy and Shivam Dube claimed two wickets each as India restricted the visitors to 190/7, sealing a comprehensive victory.
