India Edge Malaysia 4–3 in Thrilling Azlan Shah Cup Clash
India secured a gutsy 4–3 win over Malaysia on Wednesday at the Sultan Azlan Shah Stadium, Ipoh, in a pulsating contest.
Selvam Karthi opened the scoring in the 7th minute after a swift Sukhjeet Singh build-up, before Malaysia’s Faizal Saari equalised (13’) via a deflection from a penalty corner. Sukhjeet restored India’s lead in the 21st minute following Abhishek’s shot rebound. Fitri Saari drew Malaysia level (36’) with India a man down after a green card to Jugraj, but Amit Rohidas responded instantly, converting a penalty corner (39’). Malaysia captain Fitri equalised again (45’), before Sanjay struck the decisive goal (53’). Pawan’s brilliant late save preserved India’s win.
India next face New Zealand on November 27 at 13:30 IST.
