England vs Pakistan 3rd test Day 1 Report
England produced a stunning bowling performance to dismiss Pakistan for just 133 on the opening day of the third Test at Edgbaston, before half-centuries from Emilio Gay and Harry Brook put the hosts in a strong position on Wednesdat.
Pakistan, already 2-0 down in the series, suffered a historic collapse after their top five were dismissed for single figures, the first such occurrence in Test cricket.
Ollie Robinson and Jofra Archer claimed three wickets each, while Josh Tongue took 4-42 as Pakistan were bowled out in only 33.5 overs. Saud Shakeel offered the main resistance with 43.
England also stumbled to 39-3, with debutant Razaullah dismissing Joe Root for eight. However, Gay struck 60 and Brook remained unbeaten on 52 as their 104-run partnership helped England reach 156-4 at stumps, giving them a 23-run lead.
Pakistan now face a major fight to stay alive in the Test.
