Hamilton, Sutherland Shine as Australia Gain Upper Hand Against India in Pink-Ball Test
Australia held the advantage at the end of Day 1 of the one-off pink-ball Test against India at the WACA Ground in Perth, reaching 96/3 in reply to India’s 198.
Debutant Lucy Hamilton impressed with 3-31, while Annabel Sutherland produced a superb spell of 4-46 to dismantle India’s batting line-up. Jemimah Rodrigues top-scored with a composed 52, while Shafali Verma added 35 and Kashvee Gautam remained unbeaten on 34. In response, India struck early through Sayali Satghare and Kranti Gaud to reduce Australia to 58/3.
However, Ellyse Perry (43 not out) and Sutherland (20 not out) steadied the innings with an unbeaten partnership, keeping Australia well placed heading into Day 2.
