Australia Seize Control as England Collapse in Pink-Ball Test at Gabba

Aus vs Eng 2nd Ashes Test 2025

Australia tightened their grip on the Pink-ball Test at the Gabba after posting 511 in reply to England’s 334.

Resuming on 378/6, Mitchell Starc (77) and Alex Carey (63) powered the hosts to a commanding 177-run lead. England then crumbled to 134/6 by stumps, leaving them 43 runs behind. Zak Crawley (44) and Ollie Pope (26) made starts, but Starc, Boland and Neser struck crucial blows, dismissing key batters including Joe Root. With only four wickets in hand, England face an uphill task to erase the deficit and set a competitive target as cracks on the pitch make batting increasingly difficult.
