Australia Rip Through England on Day Two of Third Ashes Test
Australia ripped through England’s fragile batting on day two of the third Ashes Test, leaving the tourists 213/8 at stumps and staring at defeat.
Trailing by 158, England were rescued only by a defiant Ben Stokes, unbeaten on 45 after battling searing heat. Pat Cummins and Nathan Lyon led Australia’s charge, with Lyon striking twice in a single over and moving up the all-time wicket list. England lost three wickets for five runs in a familiar collapse, despite early resistance.
With Australia leading the series 2-0, the hosts are firmly on course to retain the Ashes.
