Afghanistan defeated Ireland by three wickets on Monday to take a 2-0 lead in their five-match ODI series. Rahmanullah Gurbaz top-scored with 71, while captain Rashid Khan remained unbeaten on 37.
Ireland were bowled out for 206, with Gavin Hoey playing a key role. Hoey claimed four wickets for 34 runs, including the important dismissal of Gurbaz, and also scored 36 runs. His 76-run ninth-wicket partnership with Jai Moondra, who made 31, rescued Ireland from 128-8.
Afghanistan began steadily but lost wickets regularly. Hoey kept Ireland in contention with his bowling, but Rashid stayed composed to guide Afghanistan home with 3.3 overs remaining.
