India all-rounder Washington Sundar praised the team’s all-round strength after playing a match-winning role in the six-wicket victory over England in the first ODI at Edgbaston.
Sundar scored an unbeaten 52—his maiden ODI fifty—and shared a crucial 102-run partnership with Axar Patel, who starred with both bat and ball after claiming 4/62. Sundar said being an all-rounder is a “blessing” and added that having multiple all-rounders gives India the flexibility to adapt to different conditions around the world.
He also lauded Shubman Gill’s composed 80 and praised pacer Gurnoor Brar for triggering England’s collapse with two wickets in an over. India now lead the three-match ODI series 1-0.
