USA Defeat Australia 2-0 to Qualify for FIFA World Cup 2026 Knockouts
The United States booked their place in the FIFA World Cup 2026 Round of 32 with a convincing 2-0 victory over Australia in Group D.
Despite missing captain Christian Pulisic through injury, the hosts made a bright start and went ahead in the 11th minute when Australian defender Cameron Burgess turned the ball into his own net under pressure from Folarin Balogun. The Americans doubled their lead before halftime through Alex Freeman, whose header put the result beyond doubt.
The victory moved the United States to six points from two matches and guaranteed qualification for the knockout stage.
